Celebrating 21 Years of Higher Education in Singapore

Newcastle Australia celebrated a new milestone since it first established its presence in Singapore in 2002.

Our new additional premises at Bugis Junction Towers were abuzz with excitement on 21 June as we celebrated 21 years of higher education in Singapore, marking a significant milestone in our educational journey.

That evening, we brought together over 80 guests, including the Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, His Excellency Allaster Cox; supportive partners PSB Academy and BCA Academy; valued stakeholders; esteemed alumni and staff.

The event commenced with an opening remark from the Pro Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Newcastle Australia, Professor Tony Travaglione. He announced the launch of the new premises, and expressed gratitude to our valued stakeholders who made this celebration possible.

When addressing the audience, His Excellency Allaster Cox congratulated the institution for its achievements and new milestones.

“It’s great to see this long tradition of Australia-Singapore partnership being continuously revitalised and growing, and coming up with new forms and ways of delivering new programs,” said His Excellency Allaster Cox.

Dr Charles Ong, Dean/Head of School, later represented PSB Academy to give a speech.

Said Dr Ong: “For more than two decades, this partnership has grown significantly, and we now formed one of the largest providers for UON programs outside of Australia. This partnership between PSB and UON is more than just an academic collaboration, it is a testament to the shared values of both institutions, the commitment to excellence and the drive to provide our students with an excellent learning experience.”

Lim Yaw Shyan, Deputy Director of BCA Academy also said: “Our partnership with Newcastle Australia began in 2013, today marks a decade of collaboration between us. Throughout these years, we have forged a strong bond and a common goal in delivering quality education and training for Singapore’s built environment sector.”

Professor Tony Travaglione subsequently represented the institution to present tokens of appreciation to His Excellency Allaster Cox, and our valued partners PSB Academy and BCA Academy.

A big thank you to all our guests who attended and made this celebration a resounding success. Your presence and support played an invaluable role in making this event memorable!

As we embark on the next chapter of our educational journey, we carry with us the shared memories from this special celebration. Together, we will continue to shape the future of higher education in Singapore and empower students on their educational path!
