What You Will Study In
Master of Environmental Management and Sustainability

Course Requirements

To complete the program, students must pass modules totaling 120 units.*
Consisting of 40 units of core modules, 20 units of compulsory modules
and 60 units of directed modules. Each module is 10 units unless stated otherwise.

* This program recognises prior learning. Credit exemption and admission is
available to applicants who can demonstrate a suitable combination of
education, professional experience and industry qualifications.

of their program structure. Each student will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Course Learning Outcomes

Apply advanced knowledge and skills in the discipline of environmental management and sustainability across a range of contexts for ethical professional practice or scholarship.
Apply critical thinking and reasoning to demonstrate advanced understanding of recent developments in the discipline for professional practice.
Solve a range of environmental problems using an evidence based approach by investigating, analysing and synthesising complex information and available resources.
Interpret, justify and communicate environmental management and sustainability concepts, theoretical propositions, methodologies to a variety of specialist or non-specialist audience.
Design, evaluate, implemente, analyse and theorise environmental management and sustainability projects both autonomously and as part of a team using an adaptive management framework.
Apply critical thinking and reasoning to demonstrate advanced understanding of environmental legislation, sustainability and climate change policy.

Entry Requirements

MINIMUM ACADEMIC LEVEL


PATHWAY 1 (120 units)
  • a 3-year Bachelor Degree (AQF Level 7) with at least a related* major; OR
  • a 3-year Bachelor Degree (AQF Level 7) in a nonrelated* discipline plus a Graduate Certificate or a Graduate Diploma (AQF Level 8) in a non-related* discipline; OR
  • a 4-year Bachelor (Honours) degree (AQF Level 8) in a non-related* discipline; OR
  • a UoN Bachelor of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (BEnvOHS)

PATHWAY 2 (80 units)

  • a 4-year Bachelor (Honours) Degree (AQF Level 8) in a related* discipline;
    OR
  • a 3-year Bachelor Degree (AQF Level 7) plus a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma (AQF Level 8) in a related* discipline;
    OR
  • a UoN Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management and Sustainability plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience**

*Related major, discipline and work experience include, but is not limited to, environmental science, spatial science and/or business management.

**Prospective students who would like their work experience to be considered, please provide certified copies of all relevant qualifications, a detailed CV, and a statement of service or signed letters from employers confirming your role, duties and period of employment.


MINIMUM LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  • Applicants for this program must satisfy a minimum English Language Proficiency Standard equivalent to an IELTS overall minimum of 6.5 with no subtest result below 6.0.

Fees

Fees are subjected to prevailing Goods and Service Tax (GST) and are payable on a modular basis before commencement of Trimester. The fees include all course materials but exclude textbooks (if applicable). Refer here for other miscellaneous fees.
