Biography

Dr Koo Ghee Chong is a biomedical researcher and educator with extensive experience in immunology, molecular biology, and cancer research. He joined the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy at the Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education in 2025 after more than a decade of teaching in biomedical and life sciences. His earlier scientific work involved translational cancer research, including contributions to studies on lymphoma genomics and immune related signalling pathways, with published work on JAK3 activating mutations in NK/T cell lymphoma.

Dr Koo teaches across biomedical and nutritional sciences, and has extensive experience in project supervision, internship coordination, and professional training. His broad expertise in immunology, molecular genetics, cancer biology and applied nutrition enables him to integrate research with teaching to enhance student learning and engagement in the biomedical sciences.
