Biography

Dr Smith teaches across undergraduate media and communication programs, with a focus on journalism, digital media, marketing communications, and integrated media practice. His teaching emphasises the integration of theory and applied industry skills, particularly in areas such as digital storytelling, platform communication, and media production. He is actively involved in curriculum development, assessment design, and industry-aligned pedagogy, with a strong focus on preparing students for contemporary media environments. Dr Smith’s research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of media, technology, and society, including digital behaviour, platform cultures, artificial intelligence in communication, and emerging forms of media production. He is particularly interested in how technological systems shape user behaviour, learning processes, and communication practices.
