Psyc@Work Series #1: Mindful at Work

business meeting

About The Event

In Singapore and across Asia, the pace rarely lets up: back-to-back meetings, a full inbox, and now the added weight of an uncertain economy. Mindful at Work is a 30-minute talk on what the science actually says about attention, stress and performance, and what that means for the way we work.

Stanley Ng and Cheng Ming Hui, both trained in mindfulness by the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation, unpack the cognitive science behind the practice: how attention works, what sustained pressure does to focus, judgement and decision-making, and why that matters for professionals navigating Asia’s relentless tempo and a tightening economy. They also take on the myths: that mindfulness is a religious practice, or that it slows you down and turns you inward at exactly the moment you need to push forward. Drawing on decades of corporate training and coaching, they share what it takes to stay mindful in the middle of a working day. No experience required, just half an hour.

This is the first session in Psyc@Work, a series bringing psychological science to the realities of working life.
