Biography

Dr Kok Chiang Liang graduated with Honours in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). In 2014, he joined the Ministry of Defence, DSO National Laboratories, as a Senior Member of the Technical Staff, where he spearheaded several key projects and was honoured with the prestigious Design Innovation Award (Individual). At the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), he was conferred the Teaching Excellence Gold Award in both 2021 and 2025, becoming the youngest Associate Faculty Member (Adjunct Professor) to achieve this distinction. In 2020, he was also invited to serve as a judge for the NTU-URECA competition.

In 2025, Chiang Liang was appointed Associate Director (Research & Innovation) at Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education (NAIHE). His influence extends beyond the classroom, demonstrated by his exclusive invitation to appear on Channel News Asia’s Money Mind programme in May 2021, where he shared his expertise on blockchain technology and sustainable energy solutions. That same year, he received the Best Paper Award at the 3rd ICESA (Nov 2021), followed by another Best Paper Award at the 6th ICPEE (Dec 2024). Chiang Liang also plays a pivotal role in shaping STEM education and policy. He serves as Chairman of the STEM Industrial Advisory Board Committee and as a committee member of the PEI Exam Board Council. His expertise is widely sought on the international stage, where he has contributed as keynote and plenary speaker, technical program committee member, publicity chair, editorial board member, and local organising chair for various IEEE conferences and high-impact journals. In July 2024, he was appointed to the Topical Advisory Panel for MDPI Electronics (Circuits and Signal Processing Section), and in 2025, he was co-opted into the Organising Committee of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) Singapore Chapter.

As a scholar, he has served as guest editor and reviewer for esteemed Q1/Q2 journals such as MDPI Sensors, Electronics, Applied Sciences, IEEE Access, Springer Nature, PeerJ, Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I and II. To date, he has secured over S$260,000 in research seed funding in both Principal Investigator (PI) and co-PI capacities. With more than 50 publications across Q1/Q2 journals, leading conferences, and book chapters, Chiang Liang’s research and academic contributions continue to make a significant impact on the global engineering community.

Beyond academia and research, Chiang Liang is deeply committed to community service. He actively contributes as a grassroots volunteer with the Ang Mo Kio Zone 8 Residents’ Committee and serves as a co-leader and writer at the weekly People’s Action Party (PAP) Meet-the-People Sessions (MPS). In 2025, he was proudly appointed District Councillor for Ang Mo Kio Town Council. In recognition of his dedication to education, the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) has also appointed him to the School Advisory Committees of Hougang Primary School and Tampines Secondary School.
