In 2009, the Ministry of Manpower (Acting minister Gan Kim Yong), projected that the local Worker Safety and Health (WSH) professional numbers would need to grow to 19,000 by 2018. There are currently only about 5,000 trained professionals, and demand in this area has continued to grow over the years.

The University of Newcastle’s Bachelor of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (BEnvOHS) degree is the first-mover in offering the undergraduate degree offered in Singapore that encompasses the disciplines of Environment, and Health and Safety (EHS). These three unique disciplines are crucial if you aspire to be either an entry-level EHS officer or a global EHS manager in a top multinational company.

This multi-disciplinary course equips you with in-depth knowledge and experience in the fields of environmental health and occupational health and safety (OHS).

The degree is available to applicants who have successfully completed the following:

Note that, in order to be considered for admission, all previous qualifications must have been completed within eight years prior to lodging an admission application. Applicants with qualifications that are over eight years old or with other relevant diploma qualifications may also apply, but will be required to submit a detailed resume outlining work experience and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by The University.

All applicants must demonstrate that they meet the University’s English proficiency requirements. Credit transfer

If you wish to apply for credit for studies completed at another institution, or if you are changing programs within the University and wish to transfer your credit to the new program, visit the University’s credit website for more information on applying for credit.

Holders of the WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health will receive further credit in OHSE2610, OHSE2730, OHSE2740 and OHSE3740. Holders of the Environmental Control Officers Certificate (ECO), Singapore will receive further credit in ENVS2710. Additional credit for holders of relevant Graduate Certificates may be negotiated.
